As integration of ecommerce and social media continues to gather pace, BigCommerce introduced a shop section on Facebook pages back in October – initially available to a limited number of merchants.
Shopify is already on the case with Facebook and we discussed its move to harness the shopping power of Facebook shops in November, launching the first Facebook shop app that works on mobile devices. Now, it’s the turn of BigCommerce to take this important step.
Showcase directly on Facebook
With more than one billion visitors monthly, Facebook can be a powerful tool for ecommerce merchants and BigCommerce is helping its merchants to showcase individual products or a seasonal range of ideas, directly on a Facebook shop. The Facebook user can then click on a product to be smoothly taken through to the BigCommerce store in order to complete the transaction.
BigCommerce has already undertaken partner integrations with other social media platforms, including Twitter, Pinterest and Google Shopping Feed. This type of functionality is going to become essential for ecommerce platforms to offer, if they are going to compete for the business of merchants across all business types. BigCommerce is of course amongst the leaders in the pack.
So what exactly can this new Facebook shop development do for your online business? Here’s the main points in a nutshell:
Working on mobile devices in addition to desktops, just like the Shopify version, this is a wide-reaching development that can benefit all shapes and sizes or business. Fancy getting this development for your BigCommerce website? Click here to learn more.
